Squirrel families in an attic are heard most commonly at dawn and dusk; usually around 6 or 7 in the morning, quiet for the day, and again in the evening for a few hours. Mothers will build a nest by shredding what they can find to make a soft, warm surface for their babies. In a tree, this will be leaves and bark.
