3 Ways to Prevent Squirrels in the Home

Squirrels can be one of the most destructive houseguests you can get. These rodents are group nesters. They chew siding, wires and insulation. Here are some simple ways to squirrel-proof your home:

1. Mind Your Landscaping
Squirrels use tree limbs to access homes. Be sure to consider the access you’re giving them with any limbs that overhang or provide easy access to your house. Food plants, like nut-bearing trees, will increase the likelihood of squirrels in your yard. Squirrel-repellent plants like allium, hyacinths, daffodils, lily of the valley, mint and geranium are helpful.

2. Eliminate Squirrel Attractants
Fruit trees, bird feeders, birdbaths and even pet foods are all things that draw squirrels to the yard. Keep a sharp eye out for places where squirrels can get food and drink.

3. Look at Your Home’s Integrity
